DAWN STRINGER
“Dawn Stringer’s work is created using found objects, but the material properties of the work remains paramount. Mass produced plastic forks contradictorily become a beautiful sculpture. The pencil shavings oscillate between the idea of the placed object in installation and the manipulated material of sculpture.  Like Fischli and Weiss’ Equilibres / Quiet Afternoon Dawn Stringer’s work also engages with tensions. Where playing cards pause in their descent from a chest of draws, chance and fate is juxtaposed with order and compartmentalisation, reminding us of the instability of our lives.”
